August 2012 Q Rental Subsidy Grant Award Winning Artists
The Creative Fund’s Q Rental Subsidy Program awarded a total of $6,500 in it’s second round to 9 local performing arts groups with upcoming productions. Award winners include: Breaking Strings, Chaddick Dance, Trouble Puppet Theatre, Kathy Dunn Hamrick, Penfold Theatre, Theatre en Bloc, Ariel Dance, Church of the Friendly Ghost, and Austin Chamber Music. Twenty-one Applications were reviewed by a panel of seven judges who were selected based on their experience in the field and the types of applications received. This review panel was comprised of:
- Elizabeth Fisher – Program Coordinator for Shakespeare at Winedale, University of Texas
- Kate Stoker – Global Creative at Dell and Creative Fund Board Member
- Ramiro Diaz – Software Engineer at IBM and Creative Fund Member
- Terri Broussard Williams – Vice President of Advocacy/Government Relations for The American Heart Association and Creative Fund Member
- Catherine Solaas – Dance Expert
- Rebecca Knox – Music Expert
- Etta Sanders – Grant Manager for New Works Community
The purpose of the Q Rental Subsidy Grant Program is to put money back into the Austin performing arts community by providing artists with a location to showcase their work. The Q Rental Subsidy Grant awards are funded by money raised through events, membership dues and generous donations.
